Happy No Diet Day!
The world is chock full of amazing people. Those people you know who seem so perfect. These people are kind, happy, responsible, others want to be near them, they are stable, they always know what to say, and they always make any event or conversation better, simply by being there. These amazing people. I have been blessed to meet many people who fit this mold. Of course, they are not perfect, but they get darn close. These people make you want to be a better person, just by thinking of them, and the best part is that they don't know how amazing they are!
I want to be one of these golden rays of light. These shining beacons that draw others into them and help to guide both by example and by their steady, firm hand.
I often wish that I could just reach into a bag and select traits that I want. Hmmm, let's add some quirkiness, maybe another maturity level, oooh, how about some more imagination! Rather, I have to exert all of my focus and energy on a select few traits and push myself to include these characteristics in my daily life.
It's difficult.
And more often than not I am not successful because I am lazy and forgetful.
No matter how long you live, no matter how good you are, you will never reach perfection in this life. You could focus all of your energy and dedicate your life to sublimity but still not achieve it. That is where the Savior comes in. Through Him we are able to accomplish what we cannot - perfection.
I love the idea that the best way to achieve your goals is to draw nearer to the Savior. If I put my trust in Him and make Him a priority, everything else will fall into place.
I am not sure where or when, but I still remember either hearing or feeling that one way to become physically beautiful is to forget about beauty. If I only focus on being a better person, on knowing the Savior better, I will have my beauty drawn out from within me. Like I have said before, some of the most beautiful people I know are 99% personality, 1% looks.
And I have so many examples around me, places to seek inspiration and motivation.
Thank you all, for helping me desire to be better.
Here are some quotes from Chris Heimerdinger and his novels, The Tennis Shoes Series:
“If you don't feel as close to God today as you did yesterday, who moved?"
“You are what you allow the Lord to make you.”
“Were all on a golden journey-every one of us. A journey inspired by golden dreams, and at the end awaits a golden crown of righteousness....please remember that every step is to be cherished. Every single one...”
Nobody's Perfect!
I gotta work it!
Again and again 'til I get it right!
Nobody's Perfect!
Ya live and ya learn it!
And if I mess it up sometimes...
Nobody's Perfect!
------------------------------------------
So I might slip again,
Let it in now and then
That won't mean anything
I'm still good
Trying to be my best
When I fall in some mess
Pick myself up again
I'm still good
I gotta work it!
Again and again 'til I get it right!
Nobody's Perfect!
Ya live and ya learn it!
And if I mess it up sometimes...
Nobody's Perfect!
------------------------------------------
So I might slip again,
Let it in now and then
That won't mean anything
I'm still good
Trying to be my best
When I fall in some mess
Pick myself up again
I'm still good
On Facebook, someone from my old school posted this link. It is an interesting story, and I love the message at the end.
Now, Meet Elsa!
I cannot express how much I love Elsa. She is the funniest lady on this planet - and I am proud to call her my neighbor. She is a wicked chef, and I already have plans for her to throw my graduation party, whether she knows it or not. She has an (obsession) liking for Mitt Romney, and is kind enough to let us pose with her cardboard cutout. Elsa is such an amazingly strong person, and she is one of those "perfect" people mentioned above. She is from the Philippines, and she has the cutest accent.
Hope you enjoyed the meet and greet!
xoxo,
McCall
I will do your grad party!!!! And what accent!?
ReplyDeleteAnd I just absolutely love you, McCall!!!!
