Land of the Squib

Wizards.

Do they hate America?

Not once in the Harry Potter series were there any references to U.S. or other North-South Continent resident wizards - but why?

Is it in the water?
Perhaps our fast food has made us immune to wizardry?
Should we change our national anthem to "Land of the Squib"?

This peculiar absence of any magical folk on this great continent confuses me. Why is it that there is no school of magic for us Americans?

If there are, in fact, wizards within the U.S., are they under jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic?

Ah hah!

Now we are onto something.

Perhaps that is the cause of why Europe blatantly ignores any American wizards - a difference in allegiance. Americans refuse to be ruled by one supreme minister, so they rebelled and created their own wizarding government. I suppose that in Europe any mention of these magic folk is taboo, or punishable by death.

What if the true reason for the revolutionary war was backed by the Wizarding world? The separation was driven not by a desire for religious freedom, yet the desire to practice magic how, where, or what they may.

Did this new magical government succeed?

Or did it tragically collapse resulting in the seclusion or possible sap of powers for these 18th century wizards?

Who knows.

Maybe we are just so awesome we were even able to keep our magic a secret while silly Europe wasn't able to keep the truth from slipping out.

Go America.

And other North-South Continental countries.

xoxo,
McCall
